Livin' for the weekends!

Now that school has started back, the weekends are a priceless treasure for me! I try to make the most of the time I get to spend with John and Dalton. This morning, John had to go pick up some promo stuff for City Fest that is coming to Little Rock in the fall (we are very excited about that and I will be posting about that soon!), so Dalton and I took a trip to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts. YUM! When we walked in, they gave us both a hot doughnut, but Dalton gave his back to me because he said he wanted one with "fintles" (sprinkles) on it! This was a fun "Dalton and Mommy" Saturday morning outing that will have to be repeated very soon!
On Thursday night, Gina called me and told me that my mom and dad were coming to her house this weekend and invited us to lunch on Saturday. Lunch at Aunt Gigi's house is like having lunch at the zoo! She has so many animals and a pond to fish in....everything a little boy dreams of! When I told Dalton this morning that we were going to Aunt Gigi's house, he said, "I am so excited! Are you excited mama?"

Dalton and Pop's "whopper" they caught

Helping Pop reel it in

My little fisherman...love this boy!

Pop and Dalton all ready to catch a "whopper"

"Look Mom! I caught a whopper!"
(The whole "whopper" thing is from a Backyardigan's episode, in case you do not live in a Backyardigan world like we do!)

Jumping with Dad on Jansen and Tanner's trampoline

Aunt Gigi got the cows to come up so that we could pet them.
Not sure what I am pointing at...maybe her calf.

When we got home this afternoon, we all took a 2-3 hour nap. It was wonderful!
Sorry this pic is so blurry....i still think it's hilarious though! Dalton is still asking, "Is it snowing yet?" He decided tonight that he was going to get on his snow hat, gloves, and sun glasses to cheer on the snow. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

Funny Stories

A great reason to blog is to journal all the funny things that happen with Dalton. These are just a few that have happened the past few days:
  • John says that yesterday on the way to work, he and Dalton were singing their favorite song, "I'm gonna sing, sing, sing...." Well when it gets to the part about "I'm gonna sit by Jesus side", they have an ongoing debate about this. Dalton always begins to argue with John and says, "No I'm gonna sit by Jesus side!" This time John asked him, "Who am I going to sit by?" Dalton says, "You gonna sit by the Lord's side!" Too sweet!
  • Tonight at supper, Dalton says he wants to pray. I think he says this because he wants it to be quick....me and dad take too long! We have a habit of holding hands when we pray, but tonight Dalton says "I wanna do it by myself!" So he folds his hands and closes his eyes, but when it came time to pray, he opens his eyes and tells John and I to "wake up!" (open our eyes) so that he could pray by himself! I thought that was a funny way to say "open your eyes!"

"I am 2 and a half!"

He loves to tell people that he is "two and a half!" This morning, Dad told him to ask me how old I was. I said, "I am 31." He said, "No, you are 2 and a half, too!" His dad has also gotten him into this thing of calling me his "wife". John was telling him one day that I was his wife and Dalton could not stand that I was Dad's wife and not his....so Dalton now says that I am his wife, too! He is so funny and if you tell him that, you have paid him the highest compliment. He does not want you to say that he is "cute", but if you say he is "funny" or laugh at him, then you are his best friend. I know why he and Saigel are friends...she laughs at everything he does. She got to come home with us last Monday night and stay a while. They had a great time!

I'm telling you, this boy is a CLOWN! He got this potty seat out of the bathroom cabinet the other night and put it on his head. This makes me laugh every time I look at it!

"Today is the day you have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!"

I love this verse in Psalms and we sing this song at church a lot that has this verse in it. With today being my birthday, I am exceptionally excited about this day! I have been able to enjoy a wonderful birthday weekend. My mom was able to come up and spend the weekend with us. She took me and Dalton out to supper on Friday night and she got up this morning and made me breakfast....eggs, bacon, biscuits, and gravy. I love my mom's gravy and I can not make gravy and so this was a real treat! Tonight for supper, some ladies of Oasis got together at Izzy's for our monthly get together. So many were teasing John about who planned this get-to-gather event on my birthday. He told them it was actually him! I think he knew I would love getting together with some girls that I love the most on my birthday. My friend Lindsay brought a cake and paid for my dinner! I am thinking I was pretty much spoiled by everyone this weekend! I am so blessed and am so thankful for what God is doing in my life. Dawne, a friend at work, gave me a card yesterday that said, "Find joy in the little things". I love that and I am trying to make it a point to find joy in the small things in life....I got to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to my 2 year old healthy little boy tonight before he went to sleep, I have a wonderful church to go to tomorrow morning, a wonderful husband to hold me tonight, a roof over my head, a car to drive, a job to go to on Monday morning, and the list goes on and on.....Thank you Lord! How could I ask for more!

my sweet friend Lindsay

Lindsay bought me a birthday cake to share with all these ladies

Thanks girls for coming to my unplanned "birthday party!" We had a great time!

2 year old pics

We went to Lake Willastein last Friday and got 2 year pics made by Megan-Marie of MJ's Photography. She emailed me this morning and said they are up on her website. If you are interested in looking, you can go to www.mjspics.com and on the left hand side you will see his name. Click on that and all the pics should come up. Now comes the hard part....figuring out what I want!

Kids say the darndest things!

Yes, I am turning 31 in a few weeks and my little Dalton was ever so kind to remind me of this tonight! We were in the car (driving to the gym to go work-out, mind you!) and Dalton says, "What happened to you hand mama?" I started looking all over my hand for a scratch or "boo-boo" and could not find anything. I said "What?" He said,"You gettin' old mama? You gettn' old like Ms. Pat?" (Ms Pat is a sweet lady at our church who is probably in her early 70's and one day Dalton was talking to her and asked her,"What happened to your hands? " She said, "Oh, honey, these are just old hands!") I look at John, who is trying to hold back the laughter, and I am trying to laugh and not cry! He says, "You mad mama? Don't cry!" Oh, the honesty of kids. I have a feeling it's only just begun!
