Weekend with Gran' and Pop

John, me, and my mom

My dad and me

Pop, Gran' and Dalton (bear too!)

Dalton was saying on the trip down there that he forgot to bring some toys. I told him that Pop and Gran' have toys to play with but if they did not, Pop would probably take him to Wal-Mart to get one....they had a 16 piece tool set waiting for him when we got there! Pop even found one of his old tool bags to put them all in. Thanks Pop and Gran'! He loves them!

A few weeks ago we had a church-wide picnic at church. We grilled hot dogs, went fishing, played basketball, and enjoyed visiting with friends. Dalton enjoyed fishing and playing in the dirt. His shirt that day said it all..."My favorite color is dirt."

He even had dirt on his nose!

Wild at Heart!

Put me in Zoo!

Such beautiful weather, who could resist going to the zoo? I decided I wanted to take him now instead of going when it is blazing hot like it probably will be in a few weeks! We had a great time looking at the animals, climbing trees (?), and riding the train.

Looking at the fish in the water...he was more excited about the fish than the monkeys that were swinging overhead! He kept asking for his fishing pole!

One of God's most beautiful creations!

My favorite exhibit...a cute little boy that climbs trees!

Easter Egg Hunt at Lake Willastein

We were so excited about the Easter Egg Hunt this year at Lake Willastein. Thankfully the rain moved out before Saturday morning.

Trying to hurry to get to our spot before the horn blew....run!

Eggs and candy for the 4 years and under

Waiting on the horn to blow with his friend from church Ben Carlyle

.

Organized chaos!

Getting more candy than eggs!

Showing off his loot!
Looking in the eggs to see what he found

Giving the Easter Bunny a hug. He kept saying it was a "small bunny". When I looked back at last years pic of him with the bunny....I saw why....

That was a really tall bunny last year!

We started a new Herring Easter tradition at our house this year....passing out treat bags with invite cards to church to our neighbors this year. We loaded Dalton and the bags in the wagon and at every house he would run up to the door, ring the doorbell, and say "Happy Easter!" and give them the bag. Sometimes he would need to be reminded to say "Happy Easter!" not "Trick or Treat!". We had a great time doing this. The response of some of our neighbors was priceless! I think we had low expectations, though, because when one lady said, "Okay, thanks! We will probably come!", we really did not know what to say next...that was not part of the script! Ha! I am praying that God will use this simple little thing to reach others for Him this Easter!
