These pictures were taken by Jessica Belote. I told her this set is as good or better than some professional photographer's sets in their studios. They made for great backgrounds for these pictures with friends.
One of my favorite times of the summer is the week of Vacation Bible. John and I teach the station where the kids come to learn the Bible story for that night. The cool thing is that the curriculum is written to where the kids not only get to hear the Bible story, but actually get to experience the story. The station this year was called "Bible Bayou". This year the Bible stories were about Moses and the burning bush, the Plagues, Passover, and the Passover feast. The last night is always my favorite night because that is the night we get to present the Gospel message. On that night, we got to introduce to them some of the foods that are eaten during a Passover feast. John said that while he was telling about Jesus' crucifixion and ressurrection some of the kids and adults had tears in their eyes. I could definitely feel that the Holy Spirit was moving and hearts were being touched. I know mine was just by watching the kids and seeing them learn every night.
One thing I will remember about this year was the night we talked to them about the Passover and how God told the Isrealites to paint the blood of the lamb on their doorpost of their house and the angel of death would know to passover their house. We had 4 "houses" set up in the room and the kids picked a house and painted a stripe for every member of their family. As they painted they were encouraged to pray for that brother, sister, mom or dad. Talk about fighting off the tears everytime I heard these kids praying for their family. AWESOME! It's a lot of work every year, but moments like that prove to be totally worth it! Can't wait until Dalton is old enough to get to be a part of all this. He did get to come out of nursery at the end a few nights for the finale. He loved the music and the motions. I caught him last night, while the big kids were praying, with his hands together, eyes closed, and he said, "Thank you, God." I could not have said it better myself!
